Chiefland man dies due to crash caused by failing to negotiate curve in roadway

Levy County, Florida - A 50 year-old man from Chiefland, Florida was killed in a single-vehicle traffic crash that occurred at 12:30 a.m. on October 15, 2025 in Chiefland.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving a pick-up truck, traveling north on NW 110 Avenue, and failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway where the road transitions to NW 129 Place. The truck continued traveling straight, off the roadway, where it first struck a yellow warning sign, then struck a tree with its front section, before coming to rest within the trees. 

The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced deceased on the scene of the crash by Levy County Fire Rescue personnel.
