Homosassa, Florida – At 7:58 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to the area of W. Greenacres St. and S. Galzerano Pt. due to a reported outside fire.

The Engine 3 crew from the Homosassa Fire Station arrived first at the location to find flames showing through the roof of a double-wide manufactured home on S. Galzerano Pt.

Two hose lines were deployed to attack the fire from defensive positions while the power to the residence was secured.

Additional units arrived on scene: Squad 7 from the Connell Heights Fire Station, Engine 18 from the Sugarmill Woods Fire Station, Ladder 23 from the Kensington Fire Station, Engine 20 from the Pine Ridge Fire Station, and numerous tankers for the water supply.

Crews conducted two searches of the home to confirm that all occupants were out of the home.

The fire was brought under control at 8:42 a.m., and the last unit cleared the scene at 10:45 a.m.

Estimated damages to the home and its contents were significant due to heavy fire damage. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the homeowner.

The investigation of the burn pattern and other evidence confirmed that the fire started as a stove-top fire, with a melted aluminum pot found on the stove.

CCFR Safety Message:
Kitchen fires are the leading cause of home fires. Always stay in the kitchen while cooking; never leave cooking food unattended. Keep flammable items away from stovetops. If a fire occurs, get out of the home immediately, and call 911 — never try to fight a large fire yourself.

IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE, CALL 9-1-1.
