Citrus Springs, Florida – At 2:21 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025, Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to W. Homeway Loop in Citrus Springs due to a reported shed fire.

Units from the Citrus Springs and Pine Ridge fire stations arrived on scene at 2:29 p.m. to find a 10x15-foot shed fully involved in flames, with a residence, approximately 15 feet away from the fire, at risk.  By 2:32 p.m., firefighters had water on the fire, using a hose line. The fire was quickly knocked down, and mop-up began at 2:34 p.m.

Crews confirmed there were no occupants inside the shed and ensured that the nearby home was protected from fire exposure. Additional units assisted with fire suppression, water supply, and mop-up.

A person, who as not identified, was transported by ambulance to a local trauma hospital with unspecified, non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation determined the fire was accidental. It started when a torch being used inside the shed ignited nearby materials. The shed and its contents were considered a total loss, with damages estimated at $12,000.

CCFR Safety Message:
When using tools, such as torches, welders, or grinders, always work in a fire-safe area that is clear of flammable materials. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby, and never leave hot work unattended — even for a moment.
