Fire damages Homosassa home and is under investigation; no injuries

Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR)

Homosassa, Florida – At 7:17 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a residence located on W. Kimberly Ct. in Homosassa due to a reported fire.

A rescue unit arrived at the location at 7:22 a.m., followed by the Engine 3 crew from the Homosassa Fire Station at 7:24 a.m. Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the roof and eaves of a 1,700 square-foot manufactured home, with flames showing through the roof. 

Firefighters forced entry through the front door, advanced hose lines, and attacked the fire from the inside of the home while additional units secured the water supply and ventilated the structure. Searches confirmed that no occupants were inside the home. 

Firefighters from numerous fire stations, with assistance from the Crystal River Fire Department, worked together to bring the fire under control by 7:40 a.m. and also completed extensive overhaul and ventilation operations. The last unit cleared at 10:33 a.m.

No injuries were reported. The homeowner was not present at the time of the fire. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Estimated damage to the property and its contents was estimated at approximately $155,000.

Home fires can spread rapidly, especially when flames reach attic spaces. Ensure that smoke alarms are installed on every level of your home, test them monthly, and replace batteries regularly. Smoke alarms provide critical early warning that can save lives. If you see smoke or fire, get out of the structure and call 911 - do not reenter the structure.
