UPDATED:  Michael Shane Steinhorst, 51, of Inglis, FL, was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff's Office, August 2, 2025, charged with stalking, following, harassing, or cyberstalking another person ($100,000 bond)
According to the arrest report, just before 3:00 p.m. on August 2, deputies were dispatched to an Inglis residence due to a complaint of a man's vehicle being parked on the roadway in front of the victim's residence. The man, identified as Steinhorst, and his vehicle were still at the location when deputies arrived.
The victim complained that Steinhorst had followed her to several locations during the previous week, the Family Dollar store and a gas station in Inglis and a bar in Crystal River, FL. On the previous day when she went to her mailbox, the victim stated, he'd been parked near her residence, and on the morning of August 2, her roommate saw him looking through their garbage and told him to leave.
After the alleged garbage incident, the report stated, the victim sent Steinhorst a text message, instructing him quit snooping and leave them alone, and Steinhorst sent a photo to the victim showing law enforcement personnel in the area and also a voice message of him speaking to law enforcement about the victim being "abused and bothered" at her residence. They exchanged text messages, and numerous times, the victim told Steinhorst to stop driving by her house and leave her alone. In one message, Steinhorst mentioned the name of a man he'd observed leaving the residence, which indicated that Steinhorst was stalking the residence where the victim was staying, the report stated.
The report mentioned calls for service on July 28, 2025, when deputies advised Steinhorst to leave the victim alone, and July 31, 2025, when he'd allegedly caused a scene when he'd arrived at the residence to retrieve personal property, and on several occasions, deputies had been asked to trespass Steinhorst from the property, but he'd left the residence before deputies arrived.
