A woman from Chiefland, Florida was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff's Office Thursday afternoon, March 30, 2023, following a complaint made to a 911 operator, that a female toddler, approximately 3 years-old, had wandered onto her property, and she'd been unable to locate the parent.
Levy County deputies responded to a home located in the Manatee Farms subdivision west of Chiefland and found the child filthy, covered in bug bites and scratches, with a severe case of diaper rash and ticks embedded in her scalp. Levy County emergency medical services (EMS) was dispatched to evaluate the child, and deputies began searching for the child’s parent/s.
Inside a tin shed on a neighboring property, deputies located a woman - 22 year-old Bryana Hall of Chiefland - asleep on the floor. She told deputies she was the toddler’s caretaker. Deputies transported Ms. Hall to the facility where the child was being evaluated. Due to the child’s physical and medical condition, she required advanced care and was taken to a local hospital.
Ms. Hall was placed under arrest for child neglect. Ms. Hall was booked into the Levy County Detention Bureau, with her bond set at $100,000.
The Department of Children and Family Services (DCF) took custody of the child.
