Levy County Sheriff's Office (LCSO), Bronson, Florida
On March 15, 2023, detectives with the Levy County Sheriff's Office, Drug Task Force, who were aware that 54 year-old Todd G. Myers of Chiefland, Florida was residing in a camper trailer at 8051 NW 60th Street, went to his residence to arrest him on a warrant for sale of methamphetamine.
Detectives arrived to find Myers walking out of the camper. He was immediately taken into custody.
Detectives found two pill bottles in Myers' pocket. One contained a medication prescribed to Myers. However, the other bottle contained 1.32 grams of fentanyl.
Florida law describes trafficking in fentanyl as being in possession of more than four grams of the drug, which is a second degree felony, and if convicted, can result in a 25-year sentence.
A search of the camper trailer turned up 18.85 additional grams of fentanyl. Myers was also found to be in possession of 28.09 grams of marijuana and assorted items of drug paraphernalia.
Fentanyl is the most dangerous of all the street drugs, responsible for an untold number of overdose deaths, more than 67,000 known deaths in 2021 alone. Mere exposure to your skin can cause an overdose resulting in death.
Myers was booked into the Levy County Detention Bureau on the outstanding (sale of methamphetamine) warrant and additional charges, which include possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, sale of marijuana, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, two counts of possession of drug equipment, possession of an opium derivative with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a specified area, and possession of marijuana greater than 20 grams, with his total bond set at $122,500.
