Michelle Lee McNeal, 34, of Bronson, FL, was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff's Office, Dec. 6, charged with fleeing from a law enforcement officer in pursuit in a marked vehicle with activated lights and sirens, driving while license suspended, a repeat offense; resisting an officer without violence, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, and tampering with physical evidence ($100,000 bond). 
        According to Lt. Scott Tummond, a deputy working traffic enforcement near Bronson saw a Nissan SUV run a stop sign, and when the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver, later identified as Ms. McNeal, refused to stop. The deputy pursued the SUV, and other deputies joined the pursuit. Eventually, the vehicle came to a stop in the 10600 block of NE 97 Place, where the driver jumped out of the Nissan and fled into the woods. A deputy chased Ms. McNeal, quickly caught up to her, and used his Taser (electronic stun weapon) to stop her. 
        According to Lt. Tummond, Ms. McNeal "actively fought" against the deputy's attemts to take her into custody, and the deputy also noticed that she was attempting to bury an item, under her, in the dirt; the item was later identified a a bag of methamphetamine.         
       According to Lt. Tummond, Ms. McNeal has been convicted five times previously for driving with a suspended license, and she has also has been convicted of ten felony charges.
