UPDATED: McKenzie Faye Wedemeier, 27, of Crystal River, FL, was charged with shooting within a dwelling, and non-premeditated attempted murder ($60,000 bond). The arrest report stated that deputies with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to an apartment in the 900 block of NE Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave. (formerly 8th Ave.) in Crystal River due to a 911 hangup call. Enroute to the location, a deputy called the phone number that had made the hangup call, and a woman answered the phone and stated, "Yes, I think so," in response to the deputy asking if everything was okay, according to the report, and she then disconnected the call. Deputies arrived at the apartment to hear the 29 year-old black male victim moaning in "extreme pain," sitting on a sofa, "covered in blood," with blood splattered around the apartment's living room entry area, according to the report. The report also stated that the only people inside the apartment were Ms. Wedemeier and the victim, who had been struck multiple times with bullets, with wounds to both arms and a wound to his back. They also found a 9mm Taurus handgun in the dining table and spent shell casings throughout the apartment. The victim referred to Ms. Wedemeier as Maggie and said that he and Wedemeier had grown up together. He said that he did not know why she'd shot him, that they'd been talking and she "Just snapped, and just started shootin'." The victim was transported by emergency medical services to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital (formerly Ocala Regionall Medical Center) in Ocala, FL in stable condition, according to reports.
