On Friday, November 18, 2022, deputies with the Levy County Sheriff's Office responded to a home located at 3650 SE 197 Court in Morriston, Florida, due to a report of gunfire.

Deputies arrived at the residence to find that 30 year-old Morriston resident, Ross Marple, had used a handgun to threaten a family member inside the home, then fired the gun at the television while making additional threats to the family member. Marple had also broken most of the home's windows.

Deputies attempted to speak to Marple, who threatened them and then barricaded himself inside the home.

Deputies and detectives surrounded the home and blocked access roads for several hours, while ordering Marple to surrender over the public address systems of patrol vehicles. However, Marple did not respond.

The Levy County Tactical Response Unit (TRU) arrived on scene to assist. TRU members made entry into the home and took Marple into custody. No one was injured during this incident.

Marple was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, and simple assault of a  law enforcement officer, firefighter or emergency medical technician, etc. ($105,000 bond).
