Old Town man dies, crashing into a tree off CR 345 in Chiefland

Chiefland (Levy County), Florida - A 74 year-old man from Old Town, Florida died as the result of a single-vehicle traffic crash that occurred at 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday,, September 3, 2025 in Chiefland.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV), traveling west on County Road 345, approaching the intersection of at NW 100th Street, when the vehicle ran off the roadway to the right and entered the grass shoulder. The vehicle began to overturn before colliding with a tree. 

The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The press release stated that the man was not wearing a seatbelt.
