Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Troop C

Inverness, Florida - At 3:25 p.m. on July 17, 2025, a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) trooper was dispatched to the intersection of East Clyde Lane and East Lake Nina Drive in Inverness with information that a man had sustained life threatening injuries at the location when he fell out of a pickup truck onto the roadway.

The trooper arrived at the location to find a red Dodge truck near the intersection. The trooper spoke with the driver, a woman from Inverness, who told the trooper that her neighbor's white and black dog had run off, and her neighbor - 49 year-old Kenneth Earl Roix -  was attempting to retrieve his dog.

The witness said that she pulled up beside Mr. Roix, and he opened the tail gate of her truck and sat down on the right side of the truck, and she continued driving in a southwest direction. She said, that after she'd driven approximately 100 feet, she noticed that Mr. Roix was no longer in the rear of the truck, so she turned the truck around and noticed Mr. Roix lying in the middle of the road, in need of medical attention.

The witness said that she did not have her cell phone with her, so she drove about a block away to Mr. Roix's home and instructed his wife to call 911, and she then returned to the location where Mr. Roix had fallen and performed CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) until emergency medical services (EMS) arrived at the location.

EMS personnel transported Mr. Roix to Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness. At 4:23 p.m. the same day, July 17, 2025, Kenneth Earl Roix was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
