Woman driving golf cart in Trenton killed when struck from rear by sedan in unlit area

Trenton (Levy County), Florida - A traffic crash that occurred in Trenton on Thursday morning, June 4, 2025, resulted in the death of a woman driving a golf cart. The crash occurred at 6:12 a.m. on SE 8th Street, south of SE 3rd Avenue.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman who died during the crash was a 39 years-old resident of Trenton. She was driving a golf cart, traveling south on SE 8th Street, within a dark area with no street lighting.
The other vehicle involved in the crash was a sedan, driven by a 48 year-old man, also from Trenton, that was traveling south on SE 8th Street, approaching the rear of the slower moving golf cart. The front of the sedan struck the rear of the golf cart, which resulted in the golf cart overturning in the roadway, ejecting the woman from the golf cart.
The woman driving the golf cart sustained fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene by first responders. The driver of the sedan was not injured.
A Florida Highway Patrol profess release stated that the woman driving the golf cart was not wearing a restraint, and the man driving the sedan was.
