Levy County Sheriff's Office (LCSO)
On August 27, 2025, the Honorable Judge William Davis, of Florida's Eighth Judicial Circuit, sentenced 31 year-old Brandon Tyler Capozzi of Inglis, Florida to serve 35 years in the Florida Department of Corrections on charges of premeditated murder and tampering with evidence, followed by 10 years of probation.
"The LCSO’s hope is that this lengthy sentence brings a semblance of peace to the victim’s family and friends," said LCSO Lieutenant Scott Tummond.
On August 19, 2024, Capozzi drove his motorcycle to victim Carry Weeks’ property, and shot him when Weeks walked down his driveway to speak to him. Capozzi immediately fled from the location.
Deputies and detectives with the Levy County Sheriff's Office immediately responded to the shooting scene and quickly identified Capozzi as the primary suspect.
Detectives followed leads in their attempt to locate Capozzi, and within hours, he was located and taken into custody in the parking lot of the McDonalds restaurant, located at 713 W. Noble Ave. in Williston, Florida. Detectives interviewed Capozzi, who confessed to the crime. Detectives also learned where Capozzi had hid the firearm used during his crime, and the gun was recovered.
Capozzi was charged with the crime and had been held in custody since his arrest at the Levy County Detention Bureau in Bronson, Florida
