Bronson, Florida - In a July 28, 2025 press release, the Levy County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) announced that Levy County Animal Services, in collaboration with the Jacksonville, Florida Humane Society, had officially achieved a no-kill shelter status, which is a significant milestone in their commitment to humane animal care and lifesaving practices.

According to the BOCC, from January to June 2025, the save rate, collectively, for both cats and dogs, was 93.71%, which is a significant raise in positive outcomes from 2023-2024.

"Shelters that achieve and maintain a save rate above 90% are recognized as no-kill shelters, a benchmark that is not easily attained for municipal shelters. This accomplishment is a reflection of the dedication and hard work of our team, and we are proud to celebrate their efforts," the press release stated.
