Vehicle, shed and brush fire on S. Lewdingar Dr. in Homosassa quickly contained

Homosassa, Florida – About 4:12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to W. Lewdingar Dr. in Homosassa due to a reported fire that involved a vehicle and shed and the surrounding brush area.
Firefighters arrived at the location to find a vehicle and shed fully involved in flames, with a brush fire spreading and threatening a nearby unspecified structure to the side of the shed.
Two hose lines were used to begin fire suppression and protect the exposed structure. Due to the swift actions of the crews, the fire was brought under control by 4:24 p.m. and determined as extinguished by 4:31 p.m. Crews conducted a thorough mop-up of remaining hot spots to ensure the area was safe from further hazard.
No injuries were reported, and no additional structures were damaged as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire was unknown at the time of the press release.
Citrus County Fire Rescue cautions residents to take precautions when burning or working near flammable materials. Outdoor fires can spread rapidly, especially during dry conditions. Always follow local burning regulations, and never leave a fire unattended.
