Early morning barn fire in Reddick, FL claims lives of 21 horses

Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR)

At 3:58 am on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Marion Country Fire Rescue was dispatched to the 6000 block of Northwest 118th Street in Reddick, Florida due to a 911 caller reporting a barn on fire, with horses trapped inside.  

The MCFR Lowell Station #11unit arrived at the location at 4:13 am to find the 10,000 square foot, single-story barn fully involved in flames, with the roof already collapsed. Twenty-one horses perished in the fire. The fire was called under control at 5:13 am. No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters at the scene.

The fire is under investigation by Arson and Explosives Investigators with the State of Florida Bureau of Fire and the Marion County Fire Marshal's Office.
